Freedom International Group — IT Team Lead (Frontend)

Financial sector, investment company (development of the group's portfolio products) · freedomgroupint.com

Team: 4 frontend (direct reports), 5 backend, 3 designers, 2 QA, 1 product

Projects

  • dobro.ru: web platform on React 19 + Next.js.
  • Hector: mobile application on Capacitor + Vue 3.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a frontend team of 4 developers: task assignment and workload balancing.
  • Running code review and maintaining shared code quality standards across the team.
  • Designing the frontend architecture of the company's key products (web and mobile).
  • Organizing planning and estimation in Jira: decomposition, cross-estimation of effort, tracking sprint progress and risks.
  • Team workload analytics in Jira with Atlassian Rovo: regular reports on task and effort distribution for sprint planning.
  • Technical decisions on the stack, application structure and build setup.
  • Profiling the Node SSR layer (Clinic.js) while working on the performance of key products.
  • Working with backend, product and design on requirements and API design.

Achievements

  • Eliminated systematic deadline slips: the cause was large undecomposed tasks and gut-feel estimates from a single person. Introduced decomposition down to 1-2 day tasks and shifted cross-estimation: developers' task sets partially overlap, so every sprint task gets two independent time estimates while nobody estimates the whole sprint. Planning in Jira became predictable and the chronic release postponements stopped.
  • Set up developer workload reporting through Rovo in Jira. Task distribution started relying on actual data instead of subjective judgement, which helped avoid overloading individual team members.
  • Established the code review and workload distribution process inside the frontend team.
  • Designed the frontend architecture of two key company products: the web and the mobile application.
  • Unified development approaches across both products, so developers switch between web and mobile without relearning.

Brendmart — Senior Frontend Developer

Retail, online store · brendmart.com

Team: 3 frontend, 2 backend, 1 product, 1 project

Responsibilities

  • Designing and evolving the frontend architecture of an e-commerce platform (SSR + SPA, component architecture) with an audience of ~160k unique users per month.
  • Technical mentoring and support of 2 frontend developers, reviewing the quality of their solutions and code.
  • Running code review and introducing shared code quality standards in the frontend team.
  • Optimizing performance and rendering of high-load interfaces (catalog, product page).
  • Working with backend developers and analysts on API and business logic design.
  • Technical decisions on SPA/SSR structure and interface scalability.
  • Using AI development tools (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini) in the workflow: generating and maintaining unit tests, code analysis and debugging, speeding up routine tasks.

Achievements

  • Worked out the architectural decisions of the client application: separation of layer responsibilities, shared rules for state and data handling. New modules started to be added without edits in adjacent parts of the application.
  • Reduced load time of the main pages (catalog, product page) by ~37% according to Lighthouse measurements: lazy loading, code splitting and optimization of async components.
  • Cut redundant component re-renders in the catalog: rebuilt the rendering dependency graph and removed excessive tracking of large data collections.
  • Reworked REST API usage: added caching of repeated requests, debounce on user input and shared error handling instead of scattered handling.
  • Profiled the Node SSR layer with Clinic.js: found and removed server-side rendering bottlenecks that are invisible in client-side Lighthouse measurements.
  • Introduced mandatory code review and Vitest unit tests for critical user scenarios, after which regressions stopped reaching production.
  • Introduced AI tools into the team's development process: set up custom skills and MCP server connections for the project's needs, which sped up writing tests and investigating defects.

AI Tools in Development

Since 2025 I have been using AI assistants systematically in commercial development: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini. Beyond code generation: writing unit tests, analysis and debugging, working through legacy code. I develop my own skills and rule sets for AI agents to match project standards, and set up MCP server connections in the working environment. As a lead I use Atlassian Rovo for team workload analytics and sprint reporting.

I also developed my own set of architectural rules and patterns for ESP32 projects, which I use as context for AI agents so that generated code matches the approaches adopted in the project from the start.

Personal Projects

Desktop application for working with ESP32 devices

Tauri (Rust + Vue/TypeScript)

I develop it entirely on my own: interface, application logic and the native layer. The application works as an admin panel for a device fleet: ESP32 flashing, map creation and offline map generation for use in the field without network access. Tauri was chosen because of the need for direct access to devices and the file system, which a web application does not have.
